Watch: How Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor Left Costar Christian Convery “Breathless” on ‘End of Oak Street’ Set
Christian Convery is sharing insight into Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor’s roar-some performances on The End of Oak Street.
The 16-year-old detailed his experience working with Hathaway and McGregor on the upcoming dinosaur survival film, praising the pair, who play his on-screen parents, for their t-rex-tradordinary work ethic on set.
“The one thing that I really took away was just [the] dedication and commitment to every scene,” Convery exclusively told E! News. “I’d been working for eight years when I was filming the movie, and I really [hadn’t] seen such commitment—emotional commitment, physical commitment—to a scene. It really started when I was working with Annie and Ewan.”
Indeed, for the teen—who plays Brian Platt in the David Robert Mitchell sci-fi movie—witnessing Hathaway and McGregor doing what they do best firsthand left him breathless.
“Seeing these two veteran actors give 110% of their bodies and minds playing these desperate people just trying to survive, it really shocked me,” Convery explained. “It took my breath away on set. I was like, ‘Wow, these guys really know what they’re doing.’ It’s really just about giving it all, giving 110% every day, every scene.”
And while Hathaway and McGregor’s characters fiercely defend their family from bloodthirsty dinosaurs who mysteriously appear in their neighborhood, Convery isn’t sure who he would trust most between the two actors to lead him to safety in a similar survival situation.
“Here’s the big divide,” the Emmy winner shared. “Annie is super intelligent, about everything. I remember I’d see her on set, and over lunch, she’d be doing the New York Times crossword. And Ewan McGregor, he’s always out on these adventures, so he is getting the firsthand experience.”
“I don’t know who to choose—the encyclopedia or the dude who’s actually in it,” he continued. “It’s a really good debate, and I could go on for hours because these people are practically like family when you’re working on set with them for so many months.”

Though he can’t choose between his on-screen mom and dad to protect him from dinosaurs in real life, Convery emphasized that he feels “so fortunate” and “grateful” for his experience sharing the screen with them.
As he added of Hathaway and McGregor, “They were just blessings to work with.”
