Rhea Ripley is still out injured but she’s a big enough star that WWE didn’t want her to vacate the women’s championship. Instead, they’ll go the UFC route and create an interim title for the roster to fight over while the real champ gets healthy.
It creates an obvious match-up when she returns, they unify the titles, you know how it goes.
SummerSlam is where an interim champion will be crowned, where five women will have to climb a ladder to grab the title hanging suspended above the ring. Qualifiers have been held to determine the five, and four of them are already set: Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, Chelsea Green, and Charlotte Flair. Two of those qualifiers featured Nia Jax losing, mostly because she’s been getting screwed over, so he naturally campaigned to be a part of the final qualifier next week.
Instead, her partner, Lash Legend, gets the spot opposite former United States Champion Giulia:
Jax immediately threw her support behind Legend, saying “that’s fine, because you’re going to bring it home for us and I have all confidence in you to do that.”
We’ll see next week.
