Watch: Zoë Kravitz’s Dad Lenny Kravitz Reacts to Harry Styles Album News
Lenny Kravitz can’t get leather pants off his mind, even at the gym.
After all, the “Fly Away” singer shared insight into his decision to wear the not-so-practical article of clothing while working out.
“I perform onstage in leather, denim, whatever, so those are the pants I wear to train,” Kravitz told Men’s Health in an interview published July 14. “It also means I can fit in a workout anytime, anywhere.”
Instead of using a fitness watch to track his workouts, the Hunger Games alum said he uses his 28-inch waist size as a reference.
“I can gauge everything by how I’m in my pants,” he added. “If my pants are a little tight, I know I’m getting outta’ shape. My friend Denzel Washington gave me this phrase, ‘The pants don’t lie, the pants don’t lie.'”
Although the 62-year-old—who shares daughter Zoë Kravitz, 37, with ex-wife Lisa Bonet—is happy with how he looks, he does sometimes feel insecure about his leather-concealed legs.
“I don’t mean that to sound like I’m into myself, but I’ve put in the work,” he explained. “I feel really good. But I gotta fill out my legs a little bit.”
Fans, however, couldn’t get Kravitz out of their minds after he first shared a clip of himself in April 2024 working out in leather pants, a mesh shirt and wraparound sunglasses.
“Thank God for today!” he had captioned the Instagram clip, in which he was lifting weights with a personal trainer. “Grateful. Never been better. There are no shortcuts, so seize your day. It is all possible. Love!”

He did previously clarify that wearing jeans or leather pants is only for workouts that don’t include cardio.
“If I’m doing cardio, obviously I’m going to wear sweats because I’m going to be sweating all over the place,” Kravitz told Variety after the video’s release. “But if I’m lifting weights, I don’t sweat so much.”
Despite the eyebrow-raising fashion choice, he emphasized that his routines have continued to harness the results he’s looking for.
“My trainer knows what he’s doing,” Kravitz added. “I know my body and what my body does and what it can do and how it feels and it’s all good. I trained with elite athletes, I trained with football players, NFL and NBA stars. I trained with MLB stars, wrestlers, boxers. I’ve played with them all.”
While Kravitz is busy dancin’ til dawn in his leather pants, keep reading for more celebrity workout routines.
