“We’ll get through this, Mum.” Peccadillo Pictures in the UK has debuted their official US trailer for Love Me Tender, an intimate French drama from filmmaker Anna Cazenave Cambet. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival last year in Un Certain Regard and picked up many glowing reviews. It’s now set for a UK release this August, though still no US date. Clémence, a successful lawyer, leaves her marriage to embrace her true self and falls in love with another woman. Her ex-husband then decides to take custody of their son Paul, manipulating him. As their relationship deteriorates, Clémence struggles to maintain her maternal bond. Based on Constance Debré’s acclaimed novel, Love Me Tender is described as “a moving and timely examination of discrimination, resilience and the fight to protect both family and identity.” Clémence must fight to remain a mother, a woman and a free woman. Starring the superbly talented Vicky Krieps as Clémence, with Antoine Reinartz, Monia Chokri, Viggo Ferreira-Redier, Féodor Atkine, and Ji-Min Park. This looks tragic and frustrating but still so wholesome and moving watching her keep fighting.

The French film follows Clémence (starring Vicky Krieps), who has carefully rebuilt her life after leaving her successful career as a lawyer to pursue writing. She maintains an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, Laurent (Antoine Reinartz), and together they share custody of their young son, Paul. However, everything changes when Clémence falls in love with Sarah (Monia Chokri) and embraces living openly as her authentic self. In response, Laurent files for sole custody of Paul, forcing Clémence into an emotionally draining legal battle where she must prove she is a fit mother simply because of who she loves. Love Me Tender is written and directed by French filmmaker Anna Cazenave Cambet, making her second feature after directing Gold for Dogs previously, and a few other shorts. Adapted from the book of the same name written by Constance Debré. Produced by Raphaëlle Delauche and Nicolas Sanfaute. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival last year playing in the Un Certain Regard section. Peccadillo Pics debuts Love Me Tender in UK cinemas starting August 7th, 2026. No US release date is set yet. Look any good?
