“That’s when all hell broke loose!” Plus M Entertainment in Korea has launched their full official trailer for the bonkers epic sci-fi movie made by Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin (of The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, The Wailing) titled simply Hope. This premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival where it caused a storm with completely polarizing reactions. Did it even belong at the festival? Is it junk? Is it amazing? Is it an instant cult classic? Watch and find out (here is my mixed review). A mysterious discovery is made on the outskirts of a remote harbor town when a monster suddenly attacks. The residents find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they’ve never encountered before – alien creatures that have crashed nearby… Hope stars Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, with special appearances by Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender as aliens. This film has tons of awesome action scenes in it, playing out in both the forest and in this town and all over the place. The US release in September, but it opens in Korea first this month which is why this preview is out now. This trailer includes English subtitles – get a load of all this crazy footage! Sci-fi geeks need to watch this movie no matter what.

You can rewatch the epic festival teaser for Na Hong-jin’s Hope movie right here for that first look again.
In the remote village of Hope Harbor, near the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the community is thrown into chaos when a tiger is suspected to have appeared and local police chief Bum-seok is alerted. But what begins as a local emergency soon spirals into a deeper, more terrifying mystery, one that forces the town’s residents to confront the unknown. Hope, also known as 호프 in Korean, is written and directed by the acclaimed Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin, director of the films The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing previously, plus other short films. Produced by Na Hong-jin and Kim Sae-mi. Made by Forged Films & Plus M Entertainment in Korea. This originally premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival playing in the Main Competition (read our review) and it also played at the 2026 New York Asian Film Festival. It opens first in Korean cinemas starting July 15th this summer. Neon will then debut Na Hong-jin’s Hope action movie in US theaters starting on September 9th, 2026 coming soon. Who’s ready to watch now?
