Sheamus gone from WWE
The big news of the weekend came in yesterday when it was reported by Fightful that Sheamus will be leaving WWE at the expiration of his contract. It wasn’t made clear exactly when that will be but fans have noticed that at some point during the evening, he was moved to the Alumni section of WWE.com. He also changed his name on Twitter to S. Farrelly.
The Wrestling Observer has stated this is identical to the situation The New Day were in, where they were offered restructured deals and turned it down. Dave Meltzer gave no indication on his possibly signing with AEW, simply saying “it will be interesting” to see if they do sign him. He also said he assumes some of the pending free agents later this month — New Day, Alesiter Black, Zoey Stark, etc — will end up in AEW but not all.
To wrap it up on at least something of a good note, WrestleVotes made sure to say Sheamus is “one of the most, if not THE most respected talents in today’s locker room.”
