Watch: Sara Foster Cheekily Addresses Claim Dad David Foster Is a Billionaire
Sara Foster became barely famous in order to make a living.
The Barely Famous star addressed the misconceptions she has been subjected to as David Foster’s daughter. And as she noted, while many people assume nepo babies have it made, her father is not a billionaire nor does he provide for her.
“My dad is very successful, let me be clear,” Sara said on the July 1 episode of The Morgan Stewart Podcast. “But my dad has had many wives. He has many children. And we don’t have a trust fund.”
Indeed, Foster would have to split his royalties among his numerous kids, including daughter Allison, 55, whom he reconnected with after she was placed up for adoption as a baby; daughter Amy, 52, with ex-wife B.J. Cook; daughters Sara, 45, and Erin, 43, as well as son Jordan, 40 with ex-wife Rebecca Dyer; and son Rennie, 5, with wife Katharine McPhee. (He’s also stepdad to Brandon Jenner, 45, and Brody Jenner, 42, from his marriage to Linda Thompson as well as Gigi Hadid, 31, Bella Hadid, 29, and Anwar Hadid, 27, from his marriage to Yolanda Hadid.)
While Sara acknowledged that she has the privilege of having a safety net if “s–t hit the fan,” she also added that David taught her to support herself from an early age.
“He raised us always saying, ‘I am rich, you are poor,’” she recalled. “‘If you see this lifestyle that I am living, that’s great. You’re going to have to go get it for yourself.’”

Once his kids turned 18, the legendary composer gave them two options: Go to college or make it on your own. While the D.E.B.S. actress knew that higher education wasn’t for her, she wasn’t sure what else to do.
“I swear to God,” the mom of two—she shares Valentina Evelyn, 15, and Josephine Lena, 10, with her ex Tommy Haas—continued, “I did not grow up feeling like I want to be famous, I want to be an actress.”
But raising her profile was indeed how Sara was able to make a living. In the early aughts, she worked her way into a hosting gig for Entertainment Tonight’s MTV series, ET on MTV. Throughout her journey in the entertainment industry, she kept repeating the affirmation, “It’s going to happen.”
She elaborated, “‘It’s going to happen’ didn’t mean fame. ‘It’s going to happen’ meant stability and security. It meant being like, ‘I got this. I pay my bills. I can get myself a nice apartment. I don’t have to ask for help.’”
