These 4 New Challengers Are Coming to Some of PS5's Best Fighting Games 1

The annual EVO fighting game championships are taking place in LA right now, which means we’re seeing a bunch of announcements trickle out of the event.

While I’d expect more major reveals on the final day later tonight, several new character announcements and gameplay trailers have dropped over the past 48 hours for a variety of different titles – including BlazBlue: Central Fiction, which is now over ten years old.

Let’s break down all of the reveals.

The ever-industrious Arc System Works is plotting a major v2.60 update for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, which will include the character Id from Granblue Fantasy: Relink.

The update will include the following improvements when it launches alongside the aforementioned character on 17th September:

  • New downloadable content character Id
  • New stage
  • New system mechanic
  • Adjustments to system mechanics
  • Character adjustments
  • New costume

Yep, Arc System Works again, folks – seriously, when do these guys ever stop?

Robo-Ky is the second character to be added as part of the fighter’s ongoing Season 5, and you can catch him in action courtesy of the trailer embedded above.

It’s Arc System Works again, although to be fair, Japanese dev French-Bread is at the helm on this one.

New character Zohar is launching this summer, and this is how she’s described:

“With claws encroaching unseen, the ‘Doppleganger’ Zohan will join the roster as the fourth additional DLC character. Zohar was a key member of the ‘Bankikai’, the organization she formed alongside Ogre and Strix. Details regarding her battle style, unique abilities, and other character information are scheduled to be revealed at a later date. Please stay tuned for more exciting updates!”

The game will also be getting a major update alongside the newcomer featuring some big gameplay improvements, including revised balance, a ranking system, and a revamped training mode.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction may be an incredible ten years old, but it’s adding a new character, as confirmed earlier this week.

While a release date hasn’t been revealed, here’s what you need to know about new arrival Trinity Glassfille:

“Trinity Glassfille, a key character who has appeared since the early stages of the BlazBlue story, will finally be joining the roster as a playable character. The illustration released today was drawn by the series’ creator, Toshimichi Mori. Stay tuned for further updates regarding the update timing and details!”
