“We can’t just keep putting people into the ground…” ☠️ A macabre topic for a documentary film! Even if it’s taboo to talk about, we really do need to be more open to discussing death & dying. QC Ent. debuted the first official trailer for a doc film called Death Boom, directed by Jessica Chandler, exploring the death industry and many challenges it is facing. The film premieres at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival this month hence the trailer arriving now. The doc follows death care workers preparing for 77 million baby boomer deaths coming up (whoa!), who expose the terrible environmental & mental health impacts of embalming, cremation, and traditional burial. Tribeca adds: “Eighty years ago, the ‘Baby Boom’ led to a massive uptick in births. Now, we’re seeing the inevitable end of that surge as those tens of millions of people pass away. This fascinating doc explores the dilemma now facing the funeral industry and the many inventive solutions being pioneered.” It’s not only about how crazy burial is these days (expensive, problematic, limited, etc) but also about how the “deathcare industry” is making money any way they can for people dying. It’s wild! This doc features Eli Roth in it, who is also a producer. But also so is Leonardo DiCaprio! Because it’s also an environmental doc about being more Earth-conscious (when you die).
