Ceasefire Day 57: Iran Strikes Kuwait and Bahrain with Missiles and Drones

Iran targeted Kuwait and Bahrain with ballistic missiles and drones in response to U.S. strikes on Iranian assets and territory in the Strait of Hormuz, temporarily disrupting the tenuous ceasefire to the Iran War, which entered its 57th day on Wednesday.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday formally condemned U.S. strikes on an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and an intelligence facility on Qeshm Island, blaming the governments of Kuwait and Bahrain for allowing their territory to serve as launchpads for military operations against Iran.

Kuwait said it engaged 30 ballistic missiles and drones overnight Tuesday, while Kuwait’s Defense Ministry confirmed that drones had struck Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport, causing significant material damage, injuring dozens of people, and killing at least one person. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) had earlier downplayed the attacks.

Israeli drone and airstrikes on southern Lebanon continued Tuesday and Wednesday, while Hezbollah continued to launch drones at IDF targets in southern Lebanon. The IDF reported Wednesday that two projectiles were intercepted over northern Israel.

Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon killed at least seven people Wednesday, including one paramedic. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Wednesday that the death toll of Israeli strikes had reached 3,516 people.

Oil prices climbed on Wednesday morning, with Brent Crude oil rising above $98 per barrel. AAA reported the national average price of regular gas at $4.26 per gallon.
