MJF will risk his hair to get the AEW World title back at Double or Nothing

The main event of AEW Dynamite tonight (May 13) saw Konosuke Takeshita choose not to use the weapon offered by his manager Don Callis in his war with World champion Darby Allin.

Who knows if using MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring would have secured victory for The Alpha against the never-say-die champ?

Without it, we know for sure he was the latest to work with Allin to deliver a thrilling television main event before ultimately taking a post-Coffin Drop — among a whole lot of other things…

… pinfall loss to the champ.

Here, just like Allin’s win have been previously during his reign, that was prelude to a scene with MJF, the man Allin upset for AEW’s top prize on the Dynasty fallout show. Maxwell Jacob Friedman actually opened the show with a possible foreshadowing of his future.

Come time for a decision, MJF stalled after Darby immediately signed the contract for a World title match at Double or Nothing on May 24 in Queens, New York. That was because it required him to agree to shave his head bald if he loses.

Max tried to intimidate the champ on the mic, and only signed when that didn’t work. Then he attacked.

TNT champ Kevin Knight Speedball Mike Bailey called his shot as Allin’s next challenger after his singles victory, and his JetSpeed partner Kevin Knight beating the returning Brian Cage. It was TNT champ Knight who ran in to make the save and send Friedman running at the end of the night. Jet and Darbs earned each other’s respect last week.

Making the main event official wasn’t the only addition to May 24’s card. After all four members of The Elite joined Chris Jericho’s Stadium Stampede team over the weekend, Ricochet added The Dogs’ David Finlay and Clark Connors to Team Demand. He also picked up another Don Callis Family members, a reluctant Andrade El Ídolo… who mostly wants Callis to get him a World title shot.
