In late April, WWE released around two dozen wrestlers, including well-known stars like Kairi Sane, Zelina Vega, Aleister Black, and Alba Fyre.
Among the more surprising departures from the company was the entire Wyatt Sicks stable. Included in the faction was Nikki Cross, whose 10-year-tenure with the company saw her win the Raw Women’s Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship two times.
Soon after news broke of her release, Cross reverted back to the name she used previous to her time in WWE, Nikki Storm. She also released a statement in which she expressed her love for the fellow members of The Wyatt Sicks.
Cross/Storm has otherwise kept a low public profile. However, WWE commentator/ring announcer Byron Saxton shared on Thursday (May 7) that she joined him and current NXT wrestler Bronco Nima at an event for Teacher Appreciation Week.
In a post on X (Twitter), Saxton wrote: “In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, I send my appreciation to Lakeview Elementary for allowing myself, @nikkistorm08 and @BRONCO_WWE to inspire and motivate your students.
“I’ve always believed that one of the greatest gifts God gives us is the ability to help our youth achieve their dreams. I’ll pursue that opportunity any chance I get. Thank you to all the educators out there for all you do and thank you Lakeview Elementary!”
As Saxton noted, the event was held at Lakeview Elementary School in Saint Cloud, Florida. His X post also included a video that shows him addressing students, before he begins clowning around with them. Cross is also seen running around the seated students while waving around cheerleading pom-poms.
Cross later reposted Saxton’s tweet on her own X account, but she didn’t provide any message of her own about the appearance.
In her April 26 message addressing her WWE release, Cross wrote: “Wyatts. Abby. It was the honour of a lifetime. Forever I will hold onto you. Our raggedy torn dirty white bloodstained dress and the cracked mask that showed off the scars but never broken.
“Fireflies. I love you beyond measure. Thank you for lighting the way. Being with you all in Las Vegas last week was fate. I’ll never forget entrances at the Clash of the Castle in Paris, Australia, Poland, Germany, or any arena which would light up in the most beautiful way.
“Every night we performed for you all, it felt like Bray and Brodie were there, their hands on our shoulders.”
She then thanked the Windham family, as well as the family of the late Jonathan Huber, who wrestled as Luke Harper in The Wyatt Family and as Brodie Lee in other promotions.
“When backstage people would refer to us as the ‘Wyatts,’ I would feel so much pride and I always will,” she wrote.
Cross concluded her statement with: “To my family, the boys: the Wyatt Sicks. To Bo. To Dexter. To Rowan. To Gacy. To Bray. To Brodie Lee. I’m struggling to find the right words to talk about our journey. In time I will, so please allow me to share photos which capture the words I don’t have currently. Please know that I love you all. Abby the Witch. Wyatt Sicks. Fireflies.
I will treasure you always. I felt it all with you.”
