Anna Jay was in the news this week for rumors outside the ring about having Shawn Michaels’ phone number for NXT. Anna denied any pending free agent moves. She is still under contract to AEW, and she made her return to the ring on Collision (May 2, 2026). Unfortunately, Anna’s comeback was killed by Willow Nightingale.
It has been close to six months since Anna last graced an AEW ring. Her return fit right into Willow’s comeback killer run as TBS champion. Anna showed spunk, but she had trouble dealing with Willow’s power. The champ took control for a superplex and a Death Valley Driver.
Anna still had her wits to escape Willow’s gutwrench powerbomb finisher. She rallied and slapped on the Queen Slayer choke. Once again, Willow’s power was the difference. She carried Anna on her back to ram into the corner to break the submission. Anna charged at Willow, and the champ snatched the challenger for the gutwrench powerbomb to win.
We’ll see what this means for Anna’s future in AEW. Willow mowed down the comebacks from Hikaru Shida, Queen Aminata, and Kamille. Only Shida has picked up traction for a continued presence on screen in the few weeks of Willow’s comeback killer run.
