Hey gang, it’s RUMOR time!
WWE’s Saudi Arabia and WrestleMania plans are today’s TOP RUMOR
Reporting for Post Wrestling, Brandon Thurston got hold of an audio recording of the town hall meeting TKO held for staff on Monday (April 27). That’s the same town hall where WWE president Nick Khan defended Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque from criticism Levesque’s received about WrestleMania 42 and the build to it. The meeting also brought news of Triple H’s new WWE contract. TKO president Mark Shapiro touted WWE’s AI efforts there, too.
Nick Khan also addressed the announcement of Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 27, saying of ongoing hostilities in the region between Israel & the United States and Iran & its proxies that, “we’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there.” He continued:
“We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there. If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there.”
“Saudi is deeply desirous of getting WWE back there and getting events restarted, especially those that come from the United States.”
The former agent took the blame for the decision to run WrestleMania in Las Vegas for a second-straight year, which is something many attributed the decline in ticket sales for WrestleMania 42 to. “That was ultimately my decision,” Khan told those assembled. “Maybe we don’t do that one again in terms of back-to-back, but ultimately it ended up being a successful event.”
WWE’s president also teased the site of WrestleMania 44 after next year’s show is Saudi Arabia, saying, “Wait until you hear the announcement on where we’re going to be for WrestleMania in 2028.”
And hey, check this out! After recently getting confirmation that Nashville was at one point the planned site of WrestleMania 43 before the Saudis ponied up for it, Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported, “Nashville has put in a bid for WrestleMania 2028, $3.5 million dollars plus tax breaks.”
