WWE made multiple matches official for the upcoming Backlash premium live event scheduled for Sat., May 9, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Laredo, Texas. The big one was the decision we were waiting on from World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns in the main event segment of the show.
Whether or not he would accept Jacob Fatu’s challenge for that title from last week.
He promised an answer but also said he hoped Fatu would change his mind about wanting to take what he has. When he asked “The Samoan Werewolf” if he thought about it and was going to make the right decision, Fatu responded that he didn’t need even a single second to figure things out.
In a surprise, Jacob credited Solo Sikoa for putting him on. Reigns shot that down rather quick, burying Sikoa by saying he “couldn’t get a cup of coffee delivered to the building if he wanted to.” Then he took credit for it all.

Finally, when Fatu was good and fed up with hearing it, he attacked. That was all it took to get the Tribal Chief to accept a match between the two.
So it’s on!
The updated Backlash card:
- World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
- Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
- Asuka vs. Iyo Sky
