MJF and Darby Allin both have title matches next week on Dynamite

Darby Allin’s first Dynamite as AEW World champion last night (April 22) was an eventful one, and his second could be even bigger.

One week after upsetting Maxwell Jacob Friedman to claim the company’s top prize, Allin got a slick video package set to Sammy Davis Jr’s “I Gotta Be Me”…

The new champ also got some time on the microphone to dedicate his title run to the people who helped him achieve his dreams, and the first defense of what will be an active-if-brief reign. Darbs actually made Tommaso Ciampa tap out in Dynamite’s main event, then learned he’d be facing an old friend in next week’s. Brody King, who defeated Lio Rush earlier on April 22’s show, is challenging for the title next Wednesday.

And the man Allin beat for the belt will also be in action April 29 in Fairfax, Virginia. TNT champ Kevin Knight seemed to have goaded MJF into a match in Portland, Oregon this week, but it was a troll. He’ll let Jet “dance with the devil next week” as he tries to win the TNT strap for the first time.

Still feels like these two might be headed into another battle of the side headlock takeovers…

What are your thoughts on the AEW World title scene with Darby Allin as champ, and how Max is spending his time with the belt, in the comments below.
