Johnny Gargano lost his way, so much so that this man has been sleeping his way through making towns on the main roster. Instead of languishing face down at catering forever, Gargano went down to NXT once more to try to rediscover himself again. He’s Johnny Wrestling, after all, and if there’s somewhere he can find that out again it’s wrestling for the North American championship in the promotion he made a name for himself.
They rushed the story for it, but Gargano cut a passionate promo on Myles Borne, the champion, ahead of the two duking it out tonight (Sat., April 4, 2026) at NXT Stand & Deliver in St. Louis. Could he deliver when it mattered?
Reader, he could not.
It wasn’t without effort from Candice LeRae, who strategically got involved and put Gargano in position to win. He couldn’t close Borne out, by pinfall or submission. It didn’t matter what he did, Borne got out of it.
The champ wasn’t taking any chances himself, as he hit Johnny with the Borne Again not once, not twice, but three times. That was enough to get the job done.

While Borne was celebrating his win, Dion Lennox of Darkstate launched an attack to establish himself as next in line.
Either way, Gargano is well and finished, right? He can’t even win in the developmental brand anymore!
