Peaky Blinders Sequel Series Casts Jamie Bell, Charlie Heaton and More; First Photo of Duke Shelby Revealed

Netflix revealed a first look at two new Peaky Blinders sequel series starring Fantastic Four actor Jamie Bell as Duke Shelby, son of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby.

Barry Keoghan played Duke in the recent film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, while Conrad Khan played the character in the sixth and final season (series) of Peaky Blinders.

The new Peaky Blinders series are set in the 1950s, a decade after the events depicted in The Immortal Man. Here is the official plot synopsis:

“In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell): older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous.”

First look at Jamie Bell as Duke Shelby in the new Peaky Blinders series:

In addition to Bell, the cast includes Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Lashana Lynch (The Marvels), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic). No details on their roles have been revealed yet.

Peaky Blinders creator and writer Steven Knight said in a statement:

“I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s. We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have the incredible Charlie Heaton also leading the cast. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.”

Filming is currently underway in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, England.

Banijay UK’s Kudos and Garrison Drama are producing Peaky Blinders for Netflix and the BBC.

In IGN’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man review, Hanna Ines Flint said the movie “may not have reinvented the wheel with conventional wartime escapades, but it ticks most of the boxes for Peaky Blinders fans, with Murphy and the cast playing a blinder.”
