MLP crowned first tag champs at Global Wars; Uprising will create interim version of Josh Alexander’s title

It’s been a big weekend for Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling. Not only did they have their big PPV show with Ring of Honor — Global Wars Canada — last night, but they’ll be back tonight (Sat., March 28) with their own Uprising event. Both are available via TrillerTV, either individually or as a bundle.

Global Wars Canada was a fun show, even without Canadian champ Josh Alexander, who shared hours before doors opened that he would miss the entire weekend due to a knee injury on last weekend’s AEW Collisions that will require surgery. More on Alexander’s belt in a moment, but first the results of Global Wars, which saw The Bullet Club OC Good Brothers become the first-ever MLP Tag Team champions.

They beat three other tag teams to do it, as you can see in the full results from Global Wars:

  • The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) def. Kaito Kiyomiya & Bishop Dyer, GOA (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona), and Bryce Hansen & Sheldon Jean to win the MLP Tag Team championship
  • Ricochet def. Rich Swann
  • Athena (c) def. Taylor Rising to retain the ROH Women’s World title
  • Michael Oku def. Jake Crist, Barbaro Cavernario, Michael Allen Richard Clark, Ace Austin, and Brent Banks in a Six-Man Scramble
  • Rohan Raja (c) def. Stu Grayson to retain the PWA Champion’s Grail
  • Deonna Purrazzo (c) def. Gisele Shaw to retain the ROH Women’s Pure championship
  • Jay Lethal, Blake Christian, and Lee Johnson def. Evil Uno, Bhupinder Gujjar, and Psycho Mike
  • Red Velvet (c) def. Alice Crowley to retain the ROH Women’s TV title
  • Eddie Kingston and Ortiz def. Adam Priest and Tommy Billington

Last night also brought word that MLP will air weekly in its home country starting this summer…

Which brings us to Uprising, where D’Amore and team have been busy today rolling out match announcements for the card. Maple Leaf Pro’s decided to crown an interim Canadian champ in a six-way that will set-up a feud for Alexander whenever he gets cleared to return.

Gallows and Anderson will also be defending their freshly won belts in a two-on-two match, while Kiyomiya gets a shot at his former tag partner after that bum-ass Bishop Dyer turned on him after last night’s 4-way.

  • Jonathan Gresham vs. Psycho Mike vs. Rich Swann vs. Stu Grayson vs. Rohan Raja vs. Michael Oku for the Interim Canadian Men’s championship
  • Gisele Shaw (c) vs. Deonna Purrazzo for the Canadian Women’s title
  • Bishop Dyer vs. Kaito Kiyomiya
  • Máscara Dorada and Bhupinder Gujjar vs Jake Christ and Michael Allen Richard Clarke
  • The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) vs. El Reverso & Mo Jabari
  • Taylor Rising & Kris Chambers vs. Alice Crowley & Evil Uno

We’ll have more detailed coverage of Global Wars Canada and Uprising soon (it’s a busy weekend). You can watch MLP shows whenever you want with a TrillerTV+ subscription.
