Watch: Will Zoey Deutch Appear on ‘Anna Pigeon’? Mom Lea Thompson Says…

As it turns out, birds of a feather don’t always flock together.

After all, Lea Thompson doesn’t believe her daughter Zoey Deutch will ever make an appearance on Anna Pigeon, the USA Network show based on the Nevada Barr novel series that she’s executive producing.

“That’s not gonna happen,” she exclusively told E! correspondent Will Marfuggi at Anna Pigeon‘s Los Angeles premiere Aug. 5. “She’s a very big star.”

But that’s not to say Zoey has completely flown the coop. In fact, Lea said their family—including her husband Howard Deutch and oldest daughter Madelyn Deutch—often hang out together whenever there’s downtime in the Set It Up star’s schedule.

“We just hang out and cook,” the Back to the Future alum shared. “My kids are great cooks, so we cook, we eat.”

Their family time also extends to Zoey’s YouTuber fiancé Jimmy Tatro, who Lea sweetly calls her “future son-in-law.”

“We like to go on vacation together in Montana and New York,” she added, “but we’re all so busy.”

Indeed, Lea has been hard at work on Anna Pigeon. In addition to her producing role, she also helmed four episodes of the wilderness-based crime drama, directing both lead actress Tracy Spiridakos and several of her animal costars.

“It was really hard because you don’t have much time,” Lea said of working with animals on set. “There’s all kinds of crazy things and it makes it really hard on the actors and the director, but I love that kind of challenge.”

She added, “This show was a real challenge as a director and as a producer to figure out how to make it big on a smaller budget.”

Anna Pigeon premieres on USA Network Aug. 7.
