Argos Spring Gaming Sale Has Some of the Best Deals of the Year So Far, Here’s What’s Up for Grabs

Argos is running some of the strongest gaming discounts of the year so far as part of its ‘Big Red Event’ sale. That includes solid price cuts across PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles, alongside a healthy mix of games and accessories. Headsets, gaming desks, chairs, and other setup essentials are all seeing reductions as well, making the sale worth a look beyond just the hardware.

One standout deal is on the PlayStation 5 Pro. It has dropped to £639.99, which is £60 off its £699.99 RRP. With popular new titles like Crimson Desert and Resident Evil Requiem showing just how well new releases can run on the upgraded hardware, the Pro is increasingly starting to feel like a worthwhile step up from the base system.

Editor’s Note: This article is brought to you in partnership with Argos.

Another way I like to look at the PS5 Pro is through the PC comparison. Building a machine capable of delivering similar performance today would likely push well past £1,500, especially with component costs rising and memory prices climbing sharply. Against that backdrop, the £639.99 price tag starts to look far more reasonable for what is currently the most powerful console on the market.

I know what you’re thinking, though, what about the PlayStation 6? That must be coming soon – why waste my money now? Well, young padawan, here’s the rub. With memory prices still high and this console generation only really hitting its stride six years in, a successor likely is not around the corner. I don’t see the PS6 arriving within the next two or three years, and most experts agree with me, which means buying into the PS5 Pro now is a fairly safe bet if the goal is to enjoy the platform for a while.

Even when the next generation does arrive, history suggests the transition will be gradual. The long tail of the PlayStation 4 player base shows how reluctant publishers are to abandon a massive install base overnight. Expect something similar again, with many games launching across both the PlayStation 5 and its eventual successor for several years. A three-to-five-year cross-generational window after the new console launches would not be surprising.

Plus, with Grand Theft Auto 6 set to finally land this November, it is also a timely moment to pick up hardware capable of running the generation’s absolute biggest release, at its absolute best. It is still not exactly cheap, per se, but the performance-to-price balance Sony has squeezed out with the Pro is becoming rather difficult to ignore.

There is also a tidy bundle available for WWE 2K26 with the standard PS5 that locks in an extra £20 in savings. But, PlayStation is not the only platform getting the discount treatment either. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X has had £30 knocked off its price (don’t all clamour for one at once). And, there are deals on Nintendo hardware as well, including the Nintendo Switch Lite, which is currently down to £189.99.

If those don’t tickle your fancy, then consider this. The sale also includes a set of useful promo codes for games, accessories, and other gear. Codes GAMING10, GAMING20, and GAMING30 will knock 10%, 20%, or 30% off select items.

One of the best value picks, at least in my view, is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which drops to just £26.39 when the GAMING20 code is applied. That’s a tremendous drop in price, if I do say so myself.

BO7 hasn’t exactly set the world on fire like CoD usually would (see everyone flocking back to 2019’s Modern Warfare) but it’s still a mighty good time if you can get a few mates together and rock out on Zombies every once in a while. And trust me, while the campaign is a little lacking, Zombies in BO7 is surprisingly great. I have truly had an awesome time with it since its release. In many ways, I’d say it even betters the pinnacles of Black Ops 3 Zombies, which is no small feat.

Another standout is the Xbox Controller – Heartbreak Purple Special Edition, which has fallen to £44.99 from its £74.99 RRP. One of these sits on my own desk, and it is genuinely one of the nicest controller colourways around.

There’s also Xbox Controllers from just £39.99 in the sale, for the standard black, or from £42.99 for several of the other colour options. Xbox controllers are still arguably the best option for PC gaming as well, so if a versatile gamepad is the goal, something that can jump between PC, console, and even mobile, these are an easy recommendation no matter where you’re gaming.

A few other highlights caught my eye, too. This Turtle Beach Wireless Gaming Headset drops to £55.99 with the GAMING30 code. There is also 10% off the Trust GXT 700 Omninius Gaming Desk and 20% off the X Rocker Alpha Gaming Chair if you are thinking about upgrading the setup around your console or PC.

Spring might be on the way, but deals like these make it very easy to justify staying inside and gaming with friends for the day. No judgment here, though it probably would not hurt to step outside for a quick kickabout if the weather behaves for once.
